Bacon Wrapped Dog!

Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dogs are Fun and Fabulous!!

There’s a bacon-wrapped hot dog story and it goes a little something like this…Chick from Utah, Mexican (but she’s from Utah, so keep that in mind), goes to Mexico with her family. They all do some partying, the usual, tequila and a few beers, great music, dancing. You know. Anyway, they head back to the resort.

Ah! What is that? A hot dog vendor? Chick says, “I love those. Pull over!” Chick walks up to the vendor, a bit inebriated (Chick, not vendor). Chick orders some dogs but doesn’t want onions. Chick forgets how to say none. Nunca? Cero? Vendor thinks Chick is an idiot (probably because Chick is a drunk idiot). Finally vendor gets it (with help of Chicks brother). Nada! Nada! That’s the word!

Anyway, Chick now lives in California, knows a little more Spanish (or at least knows how to order a hot dog without onions), and still loves bacon-wrapped dogs from the vendor. Yes, if you haven’t guessed, Chick is me. Slightly embarrassed, slightly nostalgic and slightly hungry as these are about the best late-night snack ever and it is getting a bit late!

Wrap bacon around each turkey dog and place in a medium hot skillet, cooking and rotating dog till bacon is crisp and to color you desire. This can also be done on the grill (preferable), but we had bad weather so I tried them on the stove. Worked perfect!

If by some chance, the bacon isn’t sticking to the dog, use some toothpicks. This may happen if the bacon is too thick. The key is to let the bacon dog cook for a bit and then turn. Don’t mess with them too much.

Perfect hot dogs, wrapped in Bacon!Once done, set on paper towel to soak excess oil and serve on toasted, warm buns.

You can top with so many different options. I like mine simple, but you can go as crazy as you like. All I know is that these are amazing and very, very fun! Just makes a regular hot dog a little bit special.
Of course, these aren’t the most healthy choice, so make sure and add a salad. You know. To off set the heart attack. Just kidding, live a little and enjoy. We had left over chips and added those as well. Maybe some salsa or guacamole would be good. So many options, you can’t go wrong!
